Vodafone selects Amino for HD STB

Vodafone Iceland has selected Amino Communication to supply the company the required HD set up boxes (STB) for its required upgrade to the IPTV platform in Iceland. Vodafone is already using Amino’s A110 set up boxes for its current operations but as plans of the upgrade it will be using the A140 SD/HD STB which will provide a host of advanced features. The regular broadcast channels will be running as usual by providing 100 broadcast channels. In addition the box will also support video on demand and catch-up TV which allows you to record live TV, play and pause at your own convenience.

The choice for selecting Amino was easy as Vodafone customers are already using those boxes and the response has been positive by far. They are also well acquainted with the functionality and design of the current STB which makes it easy for them to upgrade within the same company keeping the design and functionality similar to the old box. The only thing that changes is that the box gets better with more advanced features which is required due to the extensive competition digital TV networks are facing today.

Vodafone also runs IPTV in other countries in Europe like Germany and Spain but still has chosen a local supplier for its rollout in Iceland. This local supplier Amino is a fully owned subsidiary of Amino Technologies and the company seems to have sold more than 3 million devices in 85 countries. Vodafone currently enjoys more than 25000 customers in Europe.
